Challenges

Sunpower has grown considerably since 1995. Over the years the company has accumulated numerous systems and applications, often connected via hand-coded integrations. With digital becoming the preferred method to engage and transact, Sunpower’s fragmented infrastructure was fast becoming inadequate to support the company’s need for scale, speed-to-market and improved product and customer lifecycle management.

 

To future proof the business and set them up for the next stage of growth, the company wanted to:

  • Implement faster, more streamlined route to market.
  • Create a seamless ordering process for customers.
  • Enable customers to self-serve.
  • Offer customers a seamless experience, without adding to overheads.

Solutions

To help them optimise their website and processes, Sunpower selected Salesforce Commerce Cloud for its native connectivity to Sales and Marketing Cloud which the company already used, as well as its rich functionality.

To ensure Sunpower would have the support they needed in implementing the solution, Salesforce recommended Cloud Odyssey as one of the more experienced partners in Commerce Cloud.

Cloud Odyssey worked closely with Sunpower to understand their ecosystem, their challenges, and their vision, and proposed a well-defined, future-proofed transformation strategy for the implementation of Commerce Cloud, that directly aligned to Sunpower’s goals. Among the more impactful customisations the Cloud Odyssey the delivered with the implementation of Salesforce Commerce Cloud, were:

  • An enhanced eCommerce website using the latest B2B LWR template.​
  • A solution to override the global CSS as well as the CSS for specific out-of-the-box components.​
  • A custom product component utilising Einstein recommendations, to display related products to users.
  • A custom component to track user activity on the website using Google Analytics.​
  • Intuitive forms utilising Marketing Account Engagement (ex-Pardot).
  • Successfully implemented search suggestions using a custom component on the site.​
  • Currency selector functionality.​
